This evening an exciting event occurred in the house of paws. We had a visitor, that stayed for three hours, including a meal. To the paw bearers in this house, that's basically Christmas. Especially for Mr. Max.

The visitor was my father, who came around for dinner and to watch an AFL match on TV with me. In years past, Dad looked after Rusty and Bully for me while I was travelling and between homes and unable to keep them, so they are generally happy to get loves and hugs from him. Rusty decided she only wanted Mum today.

Here is me, sitting on a table (I do that sometimes) and Rusty decided to sit on my lap and headbutt me for half an hour. Max wasn't impressed by my being out of his reach. He stalked my feet.

"Mum... please get that mutt away from me"

"Can I sit on your lap too?"

Dad visiting means Tug-of-war. I'm nowhere near strong enough to do this with him, I end up on the floor, but Dad loves playing with him. They played until Max got a bit too over excited and strong with his tuggings and started dragging Dad and the lounge along the floor.

"Tug-Oh-War!!!!"

Rusty's newest sleeping position is on my desktop diary. I check it about a million times a day, and she figured it out (I've only recently started using it). She figured if she sleeps on it, I have to touch her in order to move her so I can read/write what I need, a million times a day. She can also stare at me all day as my chair is directly in front of her.

"Snore!"

It's recently come to my attention that I need to be sneaky with my photo taking. Not because they run away if they see or hear it coming... but because they are camera whores. Rusty and Max follow me around the house while I'm carrying the camera and don't sit still. So I need to be sneaky, and snap photos before they notice and start trying to pose... because they aren't very good at it.

Sorry babies.

Rainy Days

It rained today, which is beyond amazing because rain is so rare here. And even more of a bonus, the weather man knew about it!!! Usually we are told there'll be rain, and it probably does rain... but it evaporates before it hits the ground. Today it did hit the ground... and hard!! It made it muggy, gross and uncomfortable until about 7pm, but then it got cool and wonderful and the animals decided it was time to play outside in the mud.

Because mud is fun.

"Mud mummy! MUUUD!!!"

"What's that?"

"Not interested"

"Kitty hunt!"

"Can I Mum?"

"Aawww, you're not fun."

"Escaaaaaaape!!!"

"I'll be safe here"

"Helly Puppy"

"Helly Kitty!"

These animals are nuts. But at least they are keeping themselves amused.

The little prince slept through all of this. He sleeps a lot lately. He's scared of outside these days. Poor baby.

The animals in this house are strangely similar....

Apparently upside down and hind legs spread is a comfortable way to lie when you have four legs. Rusty does it too...

"Walk. Walk. Walk?"

Max is really enjoying our daily walks. He's such a happy puppy and I love that we can take him on walks without confining him to a lead and he can run around and be a puppy without any danger to himself. He has no road sense at ALL, but luckily we live in a very rural area so we don't have to worry about it.

Rusty has found a new place to sleep. Because obviously it's only there for her use. A stack of empty suitcases in the window bay of our bedroom (where the cats generally aren't allowed, but we leave the door open because we are silly like that).
"What??"

"grumble grumble"

It wasn't until after she wanted cuddles and left her cozy spot that I figured out what she was doing there. Grooming. And leaving clumps of kitty fur all over the place for me to clean up/inhale/yell at. Thanks hun.

She sure does like her cuddles. She doesn't like it when I take photos instead of cuddles. Especially when I bring her forward with the hope of cuddles, then sneakily take photos instead. I'm a mean human person...

"Give me cuddles!!!"

"Fine then, I claim your bed as my own."

"What's Mums is mine and what's mine is mine."

And of course, if it's good enough for Rusty it's good enough for Bully.

See this bookshelf? Full of DVD's and such? It's tall, towers over me and I can't reach the top.

"Help!!!"
This is where Bullfrogger hides when he's scared. He jumps up the back of the lounges, runs along the top of the bookshelves without making a sound and stops here at the corner, still fuzzed up and freaked out.

From here he can see the front door, the human peoples and the dog. And if we aren't acting funny, he calms down. Generally kRusty will come in soon after looking for him and he'll get down and go about his merry way.

We figure it's the big fat orange cat that likes to come in our yard. Bully tries to make friends, it attacks. Bully runs away, Rusty fights his battles for him.

It's the only motherly instinct that she has. But I'm glad she does. Bully is a sook.

Paw Prints

This is puppy's gigantic paw print on my leg. He was begging me for teething bone which he sniffed out from behind my laptop.

He knows I can't resist him being cute... I hate his cuteness, I really do. I can't say no to him!!

Even when he sleeps in the middle of the floor so I have to step over him to get anywhere in the house. He has a bed, but he prefers the floor. I think he likes the fact that we have to pay attention to him to climb over him. He likes standing up mid-step so we fall over. He's such a child...

Hiding Places

Apparantly the Prince here likes nothing more than to hide, and sleep, in the most inconvenient place for the humans. Last night it was in our closet. It was accidentally left open at some point and when we went to bed he stuck up his head to find out who turned the light on. He's not the best at hiding really. He's a little bit too nosey.

At least he shares. His fur. With us human peoples. *sigh*
